The Orthodontic Practice in Battersea
I am a qualified orthodontist and run a medium sized
Specialist Practice in Battersea with around 2000 referrals
per annum. Part of my business strategy has been based
on providing maximum convenience for the patients needs,
whether NHS or Private. Specialist surgical services
within Hospitals inevitabily present with long delays,
perhaps upto a year, for such procedures as frenectomies,
difficult extractions of impacted units or supernumeries,
exposure and bonding of impacted canines and premolars,
placement of orthodontic implants for maximum anchorage
cases and on rare occassions early enucleation procedures.
Our professional association with Fadi spans several
years and I am happy to say that it has proved invaluable
to my practice for several reasons:
The convenience factor. I mentioned earlier that this
is definitely a plus with my patients; it has provided
them with a real choice whether to accept the offer
of Multidisciplinary Specialist Care all under the same
roof and pay or be referred to local Hospitals for free
NHS care with the referral process taking a minimum
of 6-8 weeks and waiting lists of upto a year for most
procedures.
Having the surgical procedures done at my Practice mean
that I have greater control over the quality of treatment
provided by the Surgeon; quite frankly I've been rather
disappointed at the varying outcomes of the surgical
procedures carried out within Hosptials. Undoubtedly,
the much improved predictability of surgical outcome
and little if any post operative complications are of
great importance to both the patient and the orthodontist.
Secondly, I am always at hand in case modifications
are required to the surgical procedure to maximise later
orthodontic efficiency; this in itself is hugely valuable
as a learning tool for both operators which in conjunction
with our combined attendance of further Specialist Courses
has meant a continuing improvement of our treatment
protocols.
Last but not least, Fadi as well as being an excellent
Surgeon is also a fantastic person with good manners,
great communication skills with the patients, putting
them at ease and has proved a good selling point for
our Practice.
In effect, the Multidisciplinary Clinics of the Dental
Hospitals have been brought to the High Street and I
feel this to be the way for the future as streets become
more congested and Public Transport inconvenient, more
people will opt for local services with easy access
for their family. The more reliable such services become,
the greater their popularity.
